Well, Christmas is coming.....
My mum gave me this recipe for ace prawn cocktail. I know, I know, dead old fashioned isnt it.
I remember when I was about 10 years old, this came out in resturants and was EVER so posh.
OK be warned. Im a bucket cook. I hardly weigh anything if I can help it.
Peel about half a good sized cucumber and cut into 1cm sort of cubes. Wash prawns. I use Icelands Atlantic ones, then chuck in some big tiger prawns. Use the pink cooked ones unless you ARE posh and buy the raw ones then cook them your self.... lol
The sauce In a utensil that holds about 1 pint. Add: 3 - 4 table spoons of mayonnaise 2 table spoons tomato ketchup Dash of Worchester Sauce to taste, tabasco is ace too. Squeese of lemon juice About half a pint of double cream (lightly whipped)
Mix the sauce together.
Put the prawns and cucumber into a serving bowl. Dollop on the newly made marie rose sauce.
Put some chopped lettuce if you wish into ramekin dishes or other suitable starter dish. Doll out the prawn cocktail and garnish with a bit of paprika on top with a slice of lemon.
LOVELY!
Hope you like it. My kids LOVE this for a starter whenever its a celebration it boringly comes out time and time again!
