Sloe Gin Take lots of Gills (Greydales) Sloes! empty Gin out of bottle and half fill with Sloes Add 5oz sugar Top up with Gin, Shake twice a day until the sugar dissolves Leave for as long as possible!
Fast Gin! Go to Gills and help yourself to her cupboard full of sloe gin LOL!

ROFL Bev!!!!!!!! Don't let them all in on my secret stash of gin! I have used all different amounts of sugar, but have kept the ratio of sloes to half a bottle (whichever size you are using). We don't like stuff that is too sweet, and if you haven't added enough sugar to your liking then you can always add more, but can't take it away! I always use brown sugar (unrefined caster or granulated), or demerara. I've used both Gordon's (that is for us as it's expensive LOL), the rest is Tesco's London Gin (£5 cheaper!). A couple of my bottles have four blanched almonds in them, as I spotted this in another recipe somewhere! Minimum recommended maturing time is 8 weeks (but we tasted ours after 4 and it was lovely LOL!). Karen get your finger out and don't waste those sloes!!! I pricked myself to death getting those for you!!!!!!!

Iv got a problem! my sloe gin has got white bits in it!!! I dont know whether it is a sort of mould or fungus!!!!!!!! I have tasted it and so has my friend and it tastes fine? ? I think I will have to strain it LOL! The whiskey is fine though? strange??? it was a new bottle of gin and bottle was clean etc???

How strange, is there a lot of white Bev? Perhaps a sloe was off?! I'd just strain it before use (might add a bit of interesting flavour LOL!).
