I have done three bottles this year, one with the good stuff and two with Morrisons special, can,t waite for xmas to try it.

I'm going to bump this up - when do you pick sloes? There are loads this year - I heard that you should wait until after the first frost but could you pick them and then freeze them?

I've picked a load already and put them in the freezer this year - just so it means I don't have to prick them all individually rather than making sure they get a frost. I've never waited for a frost as these days we rarely get frosts here before Christmas and the Sloe Gin is always good whatever. Get picking!

my mother made some a couple of years ago but my dad scoffed it in no time flat, ( he is the one on the right) so she wouldn make any more

Talking to someone the other day and they had a great idea of what to do with your sloes once you've drunk the gin. If you melt some very good quality dark chocolate, then dip the sloes in so they are nicely covered then - ta da - liqueur chocolates
