I have to agree with Joni here too - as an ex police officer and Richie still serving it is not their fault. I can't add much more to what has already been said, but I suppose a lot must depend on where you are. On the island things like this are handled very quickly and when I was in Peel, we had a list of all farmers etc and markings etc so that if we had a call, the witness could tell us of any markers and we would get the owners on the way at the same time as the police.

Now that's a really sensible way to go about it...having the markings on list so you could match if possible with the owner. I like that system a LOT!!

An example for you all...lol
A female just rang to tell me that Emma Thompson,or possibly Helena Bonham-Carter ...oh not its Elizabeth Taylor...she keeps changing her masks...has a red book she possibly shouldnt have and could we find her and check!
Ah the joys of 999 calls.....lol

Well that person is clearly ill........
The dialling 101 idea for non-emergency calls must be a good one. I've looked online, and it's been piloted in various authorities around the country and there was talk of introducing it nationwide in 2008 - but I think the idea might have been dropped.'
What a pity the call centres haven't got the technology to quickly divert non-emergency calls to the nearest police station to the caller's location.
