Gem's first walk out

Anna and I took Gem and Toby up to the village for Gem's first walk out. She was good as gold!!! Even when Toby was spooking at some road signs she just calmly took the lead and walked past. Then Toby refused to go through a puddle and she went straight in ;D. In fact she took the lead several times and wasn't bothered at all.

She didn't spook at anything, just wanted to look at things she wasn't sure of - even when a noisy truck rattled by she turned to look at it then pulled me after it LOL!

We had to pass our neighbour's field which has several ponies in it who all came rushing over, and again she just looked and hardly reacted. I really hope she's going to be a calm pony, it's looking good so far especially as this was her first time out!

She's had a growth spurt, her headcollar is now three holes larger and she measures 12.1hh at the withers (she's 8 months). Her bum has shot up and she is at last looking a bit leggy at the rear! Her mane, forelock and tail have also grown quite a bit. Finally she's moulting

There is a drawback to her growth-spurt though - she's no longer the DalesFans "Dinky-Dot" girl. Her back legs have certainly stretched, lol.

Crikey she's grown loads - look at those back legs! What a good, calm girl to take everything in her stride like that. Sounds very promising!

That bodes really well Gill. I remember Sabina being very calm on the long reins when she was fisrt taken out around the village and she has turned out to be pretty chilled in that respect (maybe not others!).
