Took Oliver and Tilly up the lanes to the bottom of Kinder Scout. The sun came out, then we had some snow flurries, and it went a bit cold ...but I was decked out line a michelin man. It was a wonder I could get on a horse, with a t shirt, polo neck jumper, a fleece, a sleeveless fleece and then a jacket, plus jods and warm full chaps, oh and two pairs of socks under my boots. If I had fell off into the snow at least I was well padded with that lot on!!
Had to keep stopping while walkers stroked Tilly, asked what she was, pointed at her big feet. Tilly lapped up the attention as usual. Then she spotted some haylage that must have dropped from a farm trailer and wanted to stop for a snack!!
Had two encounters with big tractors, and Oliver was a really good boy, as he was in the lead and walked past them without batting an eyelid, so he has definitely improved with his fear of big vehicles.

We rode out again this morning .....but it was so cold! The sun wasn't out today!! Rick wanted to go up Lantern Pike, but when we reached the lane at the bottom, it started snowing, and as it was swirling round I decided Lantern Pike and the moors were a no no!! I can just see Oliver being air lifted by the mountain rescue ....
Had to put more hay out when we got back as the fields are still snow covered.

You two are very determined riders! What a good boy Oliver was for those scary tractors Can you imagine Oliver getting air lifted? The helicopter might never be the same again after an Oliver encounter. ;D

Thats just reminded me Debbie, of the day the helicopter flew just above the ponies heads, while inspecting the electric cables. Oliver set off up the hill to try and get a close look at the helicopter, so he is not scared. Yes, I may be paying the mountain rescue for a few small "repairs" after Oliver had been in their helicopter!!!
