Your vet will sort out the vaccinations, just give him/her a ring. You will need to go through the whole initial course which is a bit expensive unfortunately. I think you have to have the second one aobut 4 weeks after the first one and then a 3rd one about 6 months later - I can't remember the exact number of days right now. After than it is annual. If you are going to compete at certain competitions it is critical to get the dates exactly right. I've seen people turned away because they were just a few days out. But don't worry, your vet will see to it and then fill it in in your passport.
That is awful about your friend's horse. What happened?

It is important that horses are injected for tetanus - that is well worth it. I do not have mine injected for flu, except Tilly, who is.

Its so expensive where we are to have the vet out before he even does anything. Folly is having her first tet jab, so that probably means a couple more visits for the follow up ones, so three call out fees .....I would take her to the surgery, but its in a very difficult position on a corner, and there is no parking for trailers.

god knows how much it is guna cost because he has also checked her over and she doesnt have rainscald she is riddled with lice instead really bad though, so they gave me some strong lotion for thatgod knows how much its gunna cost me but i feel so sorry for mygirl she really has had everything but if we hadnt of got her i doubt she would of been treated because she has never had any vaccinations at all.

four of ours are flu and tet, the others tet only which is bi-annual.
I try to get them all done on the same date, so the call out fee doesn't seem so bad!

I think the flu and tet jab is about £20 and the call out is about £20 too. Not sure if straight tet is much cheaper but at least it is every other year.
Some vets say only tet once every 3 years - does anyone do this?
