I am after some Myler bit advice. Sparky is ridden in a 3 ring gag, which i have to admit i am not happy, as i am not the biggest fan and i feel he goes better in other bits and is slightly uncomfortable, but not the sort of pony to make a fuse. Normal hacking he is on the second ring and anything faster he has to be ridden on the bottom ring as no breaks.
A friend has lent me a pelham myler which he seems to like and feels comfortable, but i hate double reins, would you think a myler kimblewick would be a good choose with just a low port comfort snaffle??
For dressage and schooling i use a french link hanging cheek, which he goes very well in, but he is stronger out hacking and needs something a bit stronger. I have tried, but it doesn't work.
Any advice, would be grateful.

Thank you Heather, will have a little look at them. I did speak to the bit bank lady yesterday late afternoon and she was very helpful. Waiting now for bit to arrive with her, so she can pass it on.

I use a french link hanging cheek for Bobs and he is sometimes a bit strong out hacking and he does like the pelham but like you Im not a great fan of double reins although I seem to only have to 'think' changes and he responds. I would be interested to see how this bit is with Sparky, they are so expensive mylers though arent they?

They are expensive Bev, but Sparky felt so comfortable in the Pelham, that i tried which belongs to a friend, that i thought it would be worth a trying the kimblewick for every day hacking use. The bit bank lady does a 21 one day return policy which if it doesn't seem to suit him, up until then, then i can return it and either get a refund or try something different. Bev, I will keep you posted on how i get on with it once it arrives, might have to wait a week or two (non in stock), but she is cheaper than most other places.

Bev, the bit arrived yesterday and so far yesterday and today he has gone well in it, but i won't speak to soon and see how he goes in it over the weekend. If he goes well, we have a fun ride, the following weekend, which will be a good test for us, LOL. Will keep you posted.

Knight loves his Myler bits, he would since they cost more. For Knight the kimberwick in his favorite mouthpiece (he likes the mullen barrel MO02 mouth for kimberwick & pelham) works as well as the pelham. But Knight also likes the D ring Comfort snaffle mouth MB02. I'm learning to handle the 2 reins of the pelham again, as it's a bit more subtle for schooling.
Bev, the Mylers are cheaper over here and I've collected several spares from finding Annie and Knight's favorites so PM me if you'd like to try one for Bobby sometime. I might have the one you're looking for and some ponies like Knight just love them.

That's interesting Nancy. I got Harvey a Dring Comfort snaffle mouth MB02 a few months ago and he is very happy in it. The only other bit I've ever had him in is the KKultra which he liked but he much prefers the narrower mouthpeice of the Myler. Not sure how much control it will give on an exciting ride and I don't think it is as subtle as the KK for serious schooling. Might need to experiment with other Mylers if I get serious with his work but, for now, we are happy pottering about in the MB02.

I never did go on my fun ride as Mum's horse is lame and it did rain, so never got to try this bit out in an exciting situation. On the other hand, for general hacking he so far is going well in it (hope i haven't spoken to soon, LOL) so i will keep it for every day use.

I predominantly do dressage with Sian so that restricts what Mylers can be use, up until Christmas I was using a French Link Loose ring (which i now use to long line DikDoc with), i then moved Sian upto a scale 2 bit, she is now currently in a Mullen Barrel with Eggbut cheeks. I was advised to try a Myler by the dentist as apparently Sian has such a small fleshy mouth with minimal gap between her teeth and the side of her cheeks - since moving over we've never looked back
