thursday tea time bethany,lizzy and myself,were getting ready for a ride,then bethany discovered when she went to groom millys extensive tail that her girly bits were HUGE.....and huge they were,swollen,red raw sore,and a bit oozy....so rang the vet who said it wasnt an emergency and would come tomorrow (fri)....so we gave it all a good clean,lashings of ice cold water,she was very good and seemed to be very relieved.....anyway i wonder if some of you will remember her terrible tail infection 2 years ago? well finally all her hair has grown back from then and she did look wnderfull,fully feathered,huge long mane,tail to the floor and the top bit being about half way down......but......as soon as it has got all beautifull and thick/full again so her scabby bits have all come back,now the spanish vet 3 years ago said she would be better with all her hair off,and that her skin in her hairy bits couldnt breath and that this was the root of all her scabby scaly skin probs.....and obviously he was right....we have battled with it for 3 years now,scrubbing constantly treating bits and bobs etc so ........deep breath.......its all off!!!!chopped tail,pulled thinned to about 1/8 of its size and thickness and the relief for her was incredible!she just kept lifting her tail up and down up and down,as if waffing her girly bits! something she couldnt do before do to the sheer volume of her tail.....legs off....and mane gulp...short,thinned,and we can see her face!!!! oh my giddy she does look so funny!to me she looks like a little pony now,and so young! anyway by yesterday morn her girly bits had gone down by half!so i reckon the hibiscrub,cold water and cold air to it made a huge difference,still had the vet she said after sedating her for a full internal exam,that its just on the outside and entirely agrees its through overheating in such a moist,full of bacteria area and if she couldnt lift her tail properly she would have just been getting so much poo and wee sat there....so antiflam jab,antibio jab,and everyones vaccinations were due so did them too!! and a weeks antibiotics.....
she seems fine in herself and proudly swishing her show pony tail about!!!!!it was awfull cutting everything off,i had to close my eyes and go and sit down when bethany started chopping at her mane!!! but she must feel so much better.......so next investment clippers!!!
