During my holiday Verity decided we had better go riding together!! I wasnt keen i have to say, as 14.2 skinny arabs are not my scene but decided to go along for a look!! We had seen some terrible sights in Cairo, very poor lame things with dreadful feet, but these seemed well but I still would preferred more coverage!!!
The eygptian arab is a different shape to any I have seen. They all appear triangular behind!! I was a bit dismayed at first as i wondered if they were fed! The stable owner was called omar. when he found out we were English and owned horses her showed us all around his stables and we saw all the mares and foals as well.
All the feet were nicely trimmed and every stable had a manger full of alfafa for the horses to 'graze' on. Satisfied that the hat racks were in fact fed I agreed to go on a trap beside Verity. Dont know much about driving but looking at the photo I have to say this trap doesnt look too well balanced to me!! The harness looks a bit interesting too, but they were at pains to put pads under things and adjusted them and took lots of care!
We had a lovely time, me trotting along and Verity thundering past at full stretch gallop!! We had hibiscus tea in a bedouin tent before returning to base.
Just as well she didnt fall off, no hat no sleeves no trousers and Jesus sandals!!!!!!!! Very PC!!
If you look in the distance you can just see Verity!!
Would you believe these 2 are both Stallions!!!
omar put on an in hand display for us to music which was fascinating, but def not British Dressage approved!!!
Further news in due course!!!
