Dear All,
We are hoping to get to the Southern show with our boys this year (as long as our lorry is ready by then) and I could do with some hints and tips for getting them ready for the show and the show season in general.
They live a normal Dales life of work and playing in their field getting themselves filthy all winter but the time is now coming to get them smartened up a bit and ready for the show so any tips, hints or anything else that you can offer would be appreciated so that we can have them looking their best on the big day.
Also, any hints on how to get rid of scurf would be great as Thor is really scurffy. He gets horride great big bits of it particularly around his shoulders and withers and we need to get rid of that before the show. I can see loads of grooming and baths coming on LOL

Started feeding Ben seaweed to help improve his skin and hair quality. Only had it for 5 days and noticable change already.

Hi,
You can get seaweed supplements from most good feedstores. It's chock full of vits, mins and other wonderful things. I know a few people who feed seaweed as an alternative to a general vit/min supplement as it has such a wide range of vits/mins in it.

PS - Welcome to Dales-Fans!!!!

oil in their feeds, does wonders for a shiny coat and manes/tails/feathers. Those who have seen nancy will know I swear by it.

I bathe Scruff my Patterdale terrier in Polytar and it does wonders with him - stops itching and makes him shiny. Never thought of bathing the pony in it. Might try that.
I usually use Dermaline shampoo on D and it works really well at getting rid of the scurf. I don't usually do anything else other than brush her then. However, this year for the Spring show I didn't bath her, I just brushed her well when I got there. Teresa (Sunny) just rubbed over her face with one of her kids wet wipes and off we went. She didn't look too bad and she is never stabled or rugged and had a normal winter out. She got a rosette! Not so much hard work, a lot of fun but maybe not to be recommended?!
