Copied from saddle up- please spread the word. These evil scum threw disinfectant in the dog's eyes... will get more details later but approx 30 saddles & bridles were stolen from a yard in emley (border of wakefield & huddersfield) last night, including black GP SBS treeless saddle, brown jeffries stirrup leathers & irons, burgundy bartl sheepskin saddlecloth - that's my stuff (tis the yard hera is at for boarding school) and the saddle & cloth are fairly unique so might make identification easier in a job lot/market, they took every scrap of tack in the tack room including posh jumping and dressage saddles.
the evil, evil bast*rds deserve everything coming to them for what they did to the dog - they clearly have no regard for animals so please be on the alert.
ponies are coming home tonight/tomorrow - tack can be replaced.
please, if you're out and about at markets over the weekend, keep a look out and for those in the area it might be wise to be on high alert. if i can get a list of what's gone or any details of suspicious vehicles i'll post it up here tonight.

Emily, so sorry to hear about this theft. It is disgusting how people can just go and help themselves to other people's stuff, that they have probably scrimped and saved to buy. And to do that to a dog as well .....if they came near our GS Talisker they would certainly get what they deserve, and it wouldn't be saddles!!
I doubt they will be at a local horse sale with an SBS ....it would stand out pretty obvious wouldn't it.

Wasn't my yard but do know people who've lost their tack. Hopefully an SBS will stick out- evie's updated the post to add a few more details.. there was approx 25k of tack taken. most of it was insured - i'm going to see whether mine is through the house insurance.
in addition:
2 albion SLKs 1 brand new john whittaker comfort bridle several albion bridles KK bit
it's a posh yard, so lots of high end tack. they broke down a wall at the roadside, drove across 5 fields, disabled the alarm and broke into the tack room, even stealing the gloves out of people's hats (no other non-tack stuff taken) - presumably not to leave prints. these are serious people.
spike the dog is incredibly depressed but has been seen by the vet and it's looking hopeful that there's no long lasting damage , he has eyedrops for now. poor (big) little mite
Sounds like they knew what they wanted..

Heard about the break in when I was down at the stables this morning where Windy is kept which is also in Emley, thanks for putting the details on here, I will print off and pin up in our tack room
Really feel sorry for those that have lost their tack as its not quick getting the insurance companies to pay out and that poor dog
Once again many thanks

What a nightmare, but I really feel the most for the poor dog. Certainly some truly evil people.
Here's hoping the police can collar these. If they're happy to chuck disinfectant into a dog's eyes, I don't think these are the sort that people to be messed with. Better to have to police bring these in.

Swines. That's the yard I had Louistic on until Christmas. I thought it would be so secure. Spke is the most wonderful dog. I hope their bloody eyes drop out and they drop dead for doing that to him.

Oh lord no - that dog was such a total sweet heart. And that was one of the most secure yards I'd ever seen.

Spike is now okay physically, thanks to eye drops etc. but I bet it takes him a while to trust people again. Our local saddler is run off his feet now trying to replace all the saddles.
