does anyone have any advice on showing my welsh sec d in the veteran ie what the judge looks for etc? he is 20 years old

Hi lovely pics. As with any other class the judge will be looking for a good example of its type. At qualifiers consideration of age may be taken into account. Do you show your welsh cob as a hunter? As most section d's are shown in natural state. In veteran classes the judge will take the age into consideration. As usual manners and way of going are important, plus the overall picture. Im showing a veteran this year so may see you. :-)

I don't know much about veteran showing so can't advise you but what Chrissy has said sounds sensible. He looks very good for 20 so I bet you could do well with him. I do think they should take age into account because these days 15 isn't exactly old! Good luck!

The veteran society have very distinct rules in their classes - see their website,but otherwise the judge will be looking for condition in relation to age,how the horse is enjoying the work,the usual tack/turnout stuff - older horse stuff like weight,happiness in the mouth,feet etc.

my friend shows with the veteran horse society. as well as all usual showing stuff and whats already been said, they are looking at suppleness for the horses age, how well he moves etc.
