This is Becky ( Packsfield Ella Beck), who was scanned in-foal last year at 21 days and then blood-tested to confirm she was holding after 3 months gestation. This is Becky today - a full-term maiden, one week overdue. Quite a yummy mummy : Our vet came today to scan another mare who is newly pregnant, so we asked him to do an internal examination on Becky as we were starting to worry about her total lack of udder, and - you've guessed it - she is simply FAT, VERY FAT. No longer in foal! Or, as our French vet so eloquently put it, "VIDE" which means...... EMPTY Now Becky has always been a greedy pig (she is the biggest gannet out of all our mares) so we can only assume that she has somehow managed to "consume" her foetus whilst maintaining a wonderfully convincing pregnancy figure ! Here's a couple of photos of two of our other mares as a comparison. We like our mares to try and remain slim so the difference is quite noticeable Lass (Akehurst Heather's Lass)Gem (Manorian Moonstone)So Becky is officially a FAT FRAUD and well and truly in the dog-house Anybody want a blob, free to a good home

Oh noooooo!!!! That's too bad Becky's going to feel worse though. Now she's been outted, I daresay she'll be going on a diet. Poor girl won't know what hit her.

Hmm ...been there done that with Molly. The vet even did an internal and said he could feel something. Molly sat in the field, and got fatter and fatter, people even said they could see the foal move. There was no foal, she was just fat, and had done no work for months ...the crafty so and so.

People even said they could see the foal move. Hmmm - sounds familiar. Both me and my husband are convinced we felt something pushing back at us a month ago. We even gave "it" a flank-kiss and cuddle. How sad is that

Its very easy to believe these things. My neighbour was convinced her Arab mare was in foal, and she admitted she sat in the stable two nights convinced she was about to foal .....she too, saw the foal move various times. At 2 weeks over the due date she called the vet as she was worried the foal could be dead. He did a scan, and the foal that was there at 3 weeks, was not there at 11 months .......she felt a right idiot.

apparently this is quite common and I am hoping Diana isn't fooling me. She looks nowhere near as pregnant as I thought she might and as a professional fat carrier we have to work at very hard to keep her slim, nothing would surprise me.
I do hope I am wrong
Sorry about Becky Helen, so unfair and so disappointing
