If I loaned a mare for breeding purposes, would the subsequent foal be under my prefix, or the owner of the mare?

I would say it'd depend on who was keeping the mare and having the foal, but don't know!
Maggie/Zelda can probably tell us?

I would assume I would have the foal, and pay any fees involved including the covering fee. Well, thats what I would want, anyway!!

Thank you Zelda - so that means I would have a foal with my prefix .....wouldn't I? owner would want to keep the mare through her pregnancy so technically she could say it was her foal in a way (not that I think she would LOL!)
Its just that she cannot afford the cost of covering etc. but she still would like the pleasure of following her mares pregnancy, which I would not mind.
Anyway, this is all in the future, got to see what happens with Molly mops this year.

We did this with Susie when Sarah had her on breeding loan, worked out well and we had a loan agreement set up re ownership of foals, costs etc

A loan agreement is a good idea - a year is a long time while waiting for a foal, and lots can happen/go wrong between the two parties. It would be awful if the mare owner changed their mind, but I suppose they could if they really wanted to.
Thank you for your good advice. I am just looking at options for next year, if the Molly breeding idea does not work.
