Anyone give cider vinegar to their horses?? I was doing some reading up on herbs etc for horses and cider vinegar comes up as a really good around supplement.
Was wondering if you have or do feed it to your ponies and what you think???

I use it in my hens' waterer to prevent molds from forming, but I haven't used it for the ponies.
I'll warn, look very closely at the label to be sure you're truly buying cider vinegar. Some respected name brands only colour their vinegars....they aren't truly cider vinegars with the good stuff still intact. Distilled vinegars don't give the same health benefits. And don't overlook the cheapo grocery brands. That's the one I use for my hens. I never would have bothered to look if it hadn't been for my mum recommending it.

I used to feed it to my old mare for arthritis and also bladder problems. It is also supposed to help with fluid retention/oedema and something about it improving the acid/alkali balance in the gut.
I keep meaning to put in my chicken's water as it is supposed to help prevent worm burdens.

I didn't know that cider vinegar was good for arthritis. How much to you need to give to a pony? Might get some for Magic.

I have done some research and it is good for younger horses, to help their joints etc in the future. There is a huge long list of things it is good for including horses with sweet itch.
