Took Ben for his first outing today to Lanchester County Show in Durham.
Bathed him last night in peeing down rain with he was a very good boy about (I did use warm water which helped!) Had a cooler rug on for the first time also which he was trying to bite
Left him in overnight in a new Bedmax bed and the little :halo: had stayed very clean. Left the yard with all the kit and him and Billy (Buffy's 4 year old Dales) in the trailer at 6am
Arrived an hour and a half later to find that waggons were getting stuck on the mud in the field so the first class was delayed by 40mins.
Billy was up first in 4+ Open Large M&M in a very strong class of 17, he was a good boy but tired from the trailer journey and Buffy was feeling a bit poorly so didn't trot up great. Dales won though, a black gelding of Morris's, I didn't catch its name unfortunatly.
Out of that and then what we thought was a 2 class gap suddenly dissapeared to just 1 competitor in 1 class to a bit of a frantic rush getting Ben's ribbons in etc in time for the Open Large M&M 2 and 3 year old class.
He was a bit green and his halter ended up up near his eyes in his first trot. It was a good job that Buffy was leading him as lots of trotting to be done! Good boy though and came 6th out of 7. Manorians gorgeous Sylvan won She like Ben is also by Dartdale Shamrock.
I took to the ring for the Dales classes as Buffy was feeling really bad so excuse the cobbled together outfit :emb:
Billy trotted up a bit better in the next one but just looked immature next to the older ponies so need to work on getting more condition and muscle on him
Ben was super in his Dales 2 & 3 year old class. Only 3 ponies forward and all by Dartdale Shamrock  Ben (Black), Sylvan (Grey) and a bay mare which was interesting as they were all quite different. Ben went beautifully this time apart from trying to leave the ring in our second trot up :emb: and came 2nd behind Sylvan which I was thrilled with.
A good day dispite the rain and I enjoyed chatting with Ian before the classes
2 tired boys now happy out in the field getting muddy again.
Next outing in 3 weeks time at Border Union in Kelso
Lots of pics but some are blurry as visibilty wasn't great due to the rain <_<
Thanks for the the pics Buffy and Buffy's mum
