I took Harvey to another British Dressage competition yesterday for Tanya to ride. It was a new venue to us and quite a long way off so gave my new trailer a good run - 2 hours each way. It was a delight to tow, much easier than my old trailer and although it is heavier, I think it is more economical on fuel. Harvey did well again, 2nd in the Prelim and 5th in the Novice but the timings for our tests were rubbish. The organisers had made a hash of it and had Tanya almost riding Harvey and one of her own horses at the same time. Teresa (sunny) will laugh as this always seems to happen to us! It meant I had to get there extra early. Had to get up at 4AM and set off at 6AM. Didn't get home til 4PM with all the horses to see to and clearing up when I got back. I was absolutely shattered. I think I'm too old for this game.... It also meant that poor Harvey didn't get a break between his first and second test so the poor lad was shattered too. He wasn't helped by the fact that I'd forgotten to arrange to have him clipped so he had to work with his 1" thick fur coat on and the weather was hot and sunny. I think he deserves lots ot extra apples and carrots today.

You're as old as you feel Pam For me like most people that probably means 90 some days and 19 the next!! That was a really long day for all of you but I think the best bit is the day after when you can sit and relax (hopefully) and remember what a good day you had. That makes it all worth it. I'm writing at Danethorpe this Sunday and Kenwick Park on the 19th. Are you at either of these two events?

Oh yes, I'm sorry but I've had to laugh..... there's nothing like trying to make you feel excluded when they get your number or time OR BOTH wrong for every class!!! Pam you must feel like they are trying to squeeze you out. DON'T let them!!!! Harvey's results are good once again.... well done... and you deserve a good glass of wine for your efforts too x

Brilliant results for Harvey! But showing is stressful and you can't avoid the early starts most of the time, I remember when I used to show Pip and was running back and forth from my classes to my horsebox non-stop all day, never even stopped to eat most of the time and boy was I shattered by the end of the show! I think now I'd struggle! It's stressful enough walking around trade stands at horsey events LOL ;D

I know what you mean Pam and I was asking myself the same question this year, I was getting up to leave for some of our endurance rides at 5am leaving by 7am travelling at least 2 hours, riding for aprox 3 hours and then not getting back until 7pm and its hard, having said that Cheryl and I are normaly on so much of a high after a good ride that it dose,nt hit us until the following day. lol.
