I have just bought a 3 yr old mare, who is in foal, and has just had this years foal weaned, so she is a little underweight. Can anyone tell me what is the best feed for her this winter as I want to make sure she has enough vitamins etc for herself as well as the foal, as she is still growing. I had though maybe alfa a and sugar beet, with a vitamin supplement, but any ideas will be welcome

Winergy growth (spillers) is a good one for infoal mares. It is an all in one designed to be low glycymic index and is perfect for natives. Its alfalfa [sp?] based. Was feeding it last winter with sugar beet to my infoal mares and youngstock.

hi,really pleased you have bought hillary's mare.We feed Baileys all the time. The broodies are on 1lb balancer and 3lbs of baileys no3 stud cubes per day.it is better not to feed heavily in the last 3 months as you dont want to get the foal too big,Baileys nutritionalist are used to me asking for advice about our dales herd so would be able to give advice.

Thanks very much for advice folks, this will be only the second foal I've ever bred, and the first one was from a TB, so guessed it would need to be a different feed regime. Off to the feed merchants!, she's certainly got a good appetite.
