New field and more skool (yawn!)

Hellloooo I am having a bad hair day! Life is pants and it is sooo muddy! (This was last Saturday so it's far worse now!)


I have fluffy legs and the best foalie beard in the whole world!


Life is poo! We have NO grass and we are starving!! Uncle Isaac NEARLY has RIBS!!!!


Wot you got?? String! Can I eat it??


HEEEELP!! Someone stuck my nose to the floor!!!


Oooh! A new world!

New green stuff! I wonder what it tastes like?? Mummy, is it safe?? Kn*b!

Anyway, enough of that! It was skool again today! I told Mummy I had toothache as everyone had dentisty vetty things yesterday but I still had to go to skool!! How mean!!

Yesterday I had a funny smelling lady stick a sticky thing in my bum - OUCH! - NOT FAIR! - but I did get a treat so maybe it wasn't that bad!

Uncle Isaac won Mr Star prize as he had horribles and was very good! Auntie Choc had horribles too but she wasn't so good. Uncle Pants had horribles but was very scared so he had a jab and then was very good, he had one of Steve's drilly things in his mouth and was so chilled, he has a BIG cheesey smile now!

Celtie-Cobweb had her eyes, lungs and heart checked and was very good and then only had to wear a headcollar thing but threw a fit (she did rearing and and everything, it was so cool!) the vetty lady Kate said she wasn't frightened (unlike Uncle Pants) but just having a BIG opinion and that Lucy needed to work on that! Lucy was a bit upset so I bit her leg to cheer her up!

Then I got evicted from Mummy's stable as she has a reputation for being difficult with the dentist and I wasn't supposed to watch!! I got put out with Auntie Choc (Uncle Isaac and Celtie were in the field and Uncle Pants was floating round the other stable humming Sairway to Heaven!) How scary is that!!! Anyway Mummy was good with the gag and then had some of Uncle pants happy jab! Her nose was nearly on the floor which made Kate have to sit on the floor to do her teeth!!! She does much better bedtime kisses now! Clean and minty fresh!!!

Anyway, I had been shut out for ages so I had a huge drink and now I am feeling very sleepy..................................................

Where where we?? Oh yes!! Todays skool!

NOT FAIR! I got Claire back and had to be good!


Then Megan (Lucy's friend from work's daughter got to ride Mummy and she'd never ridden before) so I had to do leading with Lucy and Celtie!


We had done and Lucy took Celtie up the road on her own, then Claire and I followed, then we came back and Lucy heard "lorry" and so she brought Celtie back as it was a bit narrow and it was a HUGE lorry!! Claire said Celt was ace but Lucy wouldn't pass a trot up as she dished!! Lucy was not impressed!


Anyway, that's skool over for this week! I hope it's not toooo boring as we do samey stuff. Tell me if it is and i'll not come on each week!

I am a fan of Tim's weekly skool report. Keep them coming Lucy.

Half of my gang hate the gag and the dentist and have to get a dose of the "Stairway To Heaven" juice like Vanty and Amy. The others just accept it. My dentist reckons it has something to do with herd status - the higher ranking the horse, the less willing it is to be dominated by the gag, which they see as a life-threatening event, as they know instinctively that they cannot eat or bite to defend themselves. Seems to apply with my herd - the top three are the gag-haters and they haven't improved with age/habituation. Cadeby is now twenty and she still gets stroppy

Lucy - how do you manage to attract so many helpers to come to Tim skool? Do you bribe them, or ply them with booze, cakes, bacon sarnies afterwards? I have to admit to being a little envious of your support network. I would get so much more done with friends like that. You are very lucky

As to my little helpers, Sue has many horsey friends with small people that love to come down when they are visiting; foals are very alluring (until you meet them and get mugged!! ;D ); Mo (my old neighbour and the lady with the string) has just started doing riding again after having a family and some grand children so loves to come to be with the pones; the chap from work who hid behind the camera got nagged by his daughter to come and see the foal; they just keep appearing! And I only charge them £10 for doing ponies only joking! At times it can be a tadd intrusive, but when there's lots going on it's great to have many hands to do stuff and control traffic, and take piccies for you chaps, etc. Claire is an absolutly fab teacher cos whoever turns up she finds them a job so they feel part of whatever todays plan is! This weekend was great as it meant all the Daleses could go out in one big herd, if it had just been Claire and I we'd have had to do two goes which we may not have had time for.

I am also lucky in living in a relatively quiet village. The locals think I'm mad (in a good humoured sort of way), but I don't give a tinker's chuff! Giving the little ones these sort of excursions I feel will be paid back ten fold when we come to back them and start their working lives. We only go out for 20-30 minutes but at least we are doing something! I can't ride in the field now as it is too wet so it keeps everyone doing a bit of something. I also think it is helping Tim become more independant so weaning will be less traumatic for him and Amy. Celt has had a great start already, so we are expanding her education and getting her ready to do a bit more next year. It will be lovely if she has done a little bit of driving and been lightly backed before we put her in foal, if she's ready for that of course, and if Helen is happy that she stays here and with my plans.

I do worry that we are rather boring, so all your kind comments are much appreciated! This year has been a major education for me and it is great that we have been supported by so many brilliant people! I hope this gives a few others the will to have a go, but I wouldn't want anyone to take on a foal lightly, it's a tough education for a first timer!

Once you've got Dales in your blood, I can't see it ever leaving!!

PS My pesky critters have got some pesky passengers on board, which is why Isaac has been rubbing his face off! He got done with Coopers this evening, Amy and foalie got done, he was sooooo good, unlike his Mum who thought I was trying to kill her!! LOL!, and then Celt presented herself in the stable when we were going for Vanty (well she did have Wiz on one side, Pants on the other and the stable was the only escape route!) so she got done, and was amazingly good!! no histerics, no climbing the walls, no temper tantrums, just some trundling around and a few flehmens!! And lots of cuddles and the occaisional treat from Sue!! So Choc and Pants need doing but I ran out of stuff, everyone else smells like a tart's parlour!! Pones, hey, who'd have 'em!!

Steve is well cool! He drives the tractor and does stuff! He remodelled the muck heap on Friday but I wasn't allowed to help incase I got squished cos he said I am a kn*b and stand in silly places!

What is long suffering, Celtie-Cobweb's mummy?? My Mummy says she is! Auntie Choccie probably does most, she does big sighs and does evil faces! Uncle Pants says he is as he has to play with an annoying little brat cos no one else will! Who can he mean??

If you have a special suit to see me can I try it on?? Does it have "special" pockets??? Oooh! I hope so!
