At the moment dan is doing no work as hes living out and iv not managed to clip him yet
hes just having one scoop of happy hoof and hay once a day
when i start work with him again il give him extra hay and sugar beet
i was wondering if he may need a supplement and which one is a good alrounder that doesnt cost the earth?
would maybe a feed balanber help or is that a totally differant thing?

I'm not a great believer in supplements unless they're indicated by a horse's condition or needs.
What would you want to address with a supplement? Do you think that Dan is lacking in something?
Bea is on Blue chip original which is a feed balancer. He has it at this time of year because he tends to lose topline over winter. Once the spring grass comes through I'll stop the Blue chip.

Doesn't Happy Hoof contain a vitamin supplement anyway? If so Dan is probably getting all he needs as it is, even if you are not feeding it the full amount.
Winnie gets full recommended feed rations (Allan and Page Calm and Condition) and so I don't give him any supplements. he should get all he needs from the feed and he is certainly looking good on it.
I do give Harvey and Quest a balancer as both ponies are on small feed rations. Quest is old and has Cushings and Harvey is in hard work. I look on a balancer as a means to give a horse all the nutrients it needs without loads of calories/bulk. I expect Dan will be getting all he needs from his grazing and his happy hoof.

The only thing I give is Feedmark Benevit Advance general vit/min supplement, because none of my horses are getting the full amount of feed (as per the bag but if I fed tham that much they would be elephants!) and the grass is pretty poor.

365 complete is coming out as being cheap and very effective and a lot of people are changing to itfrom the balancers. could be a vit supplement worth trying as he may need extra if he only has one scoop of happy hoof www.equineanswers.co.uk/prodpage.asp?ProdID=1
