i just wondered if anyone else has a slow eater, I really worry about Merls sometimes he seems to take twice as long as the others to finish his feed, I have had his teeth checked and all ok there, today he seemed to take forever to munch his way through his bucket.

Harvey is a very slow (but persistent) eater. I look on it as a good thing.......

Annie is terribly slow, theres nothign wrong with her, she just isn't fussed by her food that much. I often give her a lunch after working to give her a bit more than the non-working field mates she's in with but end up having to leave her all afternoon to eat it at her pace and it still won't be finished sometimes. She's just not bothered!

Thats a relief, I know it may sound silly but the others are such gobble guts, I have been getting more and more concerned about him.

If teeth are ok I wouldnt worry- Ozzie is fairly slow compared to Mickey. On a morning he gets a smaller feed as he usually wants to get out and on an evening if he hasnt finished he just has his rubber feed skip left in with him. Yeti was terrible- he prefered haylage. Left breakfast most days as he'd be too busy making sure he wasn't going to be left in and on an evening he'd eat a mouthful of feed then some haylage. It would all be gone by morning though.

Amber chews every mouthful a hundred times Buttons hoovers it up and I dont think she chews it at all!! Cheyenne is so busy trying to tell everyone its her food and dancing round her mum that I dont think she really gets to eat an awful lot at all!

We have a pony on our yard called Brandy and he is soooo slow that sometimes he has a doze half way through his dinner - honestly. We look upon it as being very confident in his stable that no one can pinch his grub.... despite Pearl eyeballing his bucket over the door when she's scoffed hers!
