When Cowboy arrived he was a bit like wow....what the heck was that. Couldn't put a halter on him, touch him, and let alone but a comb thru that mane.
I have been working with him. He is easly haltered and moves willingly to "step up" (I think I picked that up from driving Pete and Bob).
His front feet have been picked up and tapped. He wasn't too sure the first time but has figured it out. I honestly have not done the back as of yet. (on my to do list)
He had huge knots in his mane. Put Cowboy Magic in it and worked little bits at a time. He'd get a bit worried and I go back to his fav scratch spot for him to relax. He stood yesterday evening in the turn out loose while I was able to comb the entire mane. Didn't get worried nor the desire to move. Just nuzzled me and made silly faces.
I have placed my arm over his neck / side and tapped the other side as well as rub all over. Did this on both sides. He was not bothered and really enjoyed the attention. (what a ham) Been scratchin and rubbin everywhere. He has been a complete star.
I am thrilled with him. I am going slow and at his pace. It is so calming and I could not be happier.
I plan on taking him for a walk to get him off the ranch.

That's wonderful to hear, it sounds like you are building a great bond with him already.
