Anyone have any experience or info on this horrible condition? Sadly we have a suspected case on the yard will be nearer a firm diagnosis by the weekend. Poor pony is such as sweetie, started with a bout of colic on thurs last week and tonight i hear he is headed for the vets tomorrow for more tests as just getting worse

He went in for emergency colic surgery yesterday next 48 hours critical, not grass sickness but tapeworm! So much for our stringent worming programme!

Phew, that's a bit better than grass sickness. I hope there's not too much damage and he makes a full recovery.
Might be worth checking the worming regime and what wormers they use - could be a case of the worms becoming resistant?

Hi Jane, am a bit peeved at the thought of worming again to be honest as we are 'allegedly' on a programme set by a vet but for this to happen something aint right!! We've only just wormed with Pramox! I have my vet down tomorrow so i'll ask his advice and coincidently it's his practice that has done ponies treatment!

That's a relief, Shell - that it isn't grass sickness I mean. A friend on our yard lost a horse three years ago to grass sickness and it was horrible. That's how I found the link so quickly.
How shocking re the tapeworm!! Worrying too. Will you let us know what the vet says to you about it. It'd be interesting to know.
