Hi Debbie
Thanks for your kind words the other day.
In my experience with mini shetlands and foaling, the size of the stallion doesn't make a difference. We lost a foal 2 years ago (thankfully the mare survived - although it was touch and go) When the vet arrived - the foal was stuck - he said what on earth have you put this mare to? - expecting a much larger daddy. Helen was here and she pointed to our stallion - who is probably 2 inches smaller than the mare - although she is very petite too. The only reason we could think of was the quality of the grass here in france. And I think shetlands can compete with Dales on the eating as much as they can front. Awaiting her next foal atm - I did the 11pm, 3am, 5am, and 7am checks last night. Last foalie for us though - castrations all round!

Debbie,
Smuggler is 14.2hh, Larry on the other hand is more Blossom's size. He is about 14hh, very stout and thick. Larry has the calmer nature by far. I think you would be much better suited with Larry from your discription. I know Rolene would breed to an outside mare or two.

Debbie,
It is never a bother. People welcome inquiries. Never feel that way. If you ever have questions, let me know. I know those ponies well and keep up with them.
