D seems to be doing ok. She looks fit to explode but no real signs that I can see yet. Her udders are changing but not actually bagging up yet. I don't feel as nervous as I did since Lucy laid on her foal training day and the Pennells arranged for me to have a practical with their foals! My wonderful friends knew what I needed!
I have a new vet that a client recommended. We were lacking a good horse vet here in Lincoln and so one has just set up practice recently to be in time for my new foal. How good a timing was that?! He has been out to give injections and now knows exactly where I am if I need him in a hurry. A lovely courteous, kind, black man who loves fruit cake! I really liked his attitude to the ponies (and Scruff). He took his time, explained everything thoroughly and seems prepared to listen to my views too. I don't feel he will pressure me into doing anything I don't want to and he appears to be very caring too.
I am waiting for D to tell me when she wants to be separated from Saturn and then I will move them both into the back paddocks. They will have a paddock each, where they will be able to see each other, so hopefully Saturn won't get too stressed.
Going to move the caravan there too so I can watch unobtrusively from behind the curtains!
God knows what is going to happen but I'm not too worried. I'm a great believer in faith. If you have faith that good things are going to happen, then they will! I have faced my fears associated with the forthcoming foaling, done what I can to alleviate them, and will now just go with the flow. Please God - a healthy little filly whose name is a special surprise! Don't worry, I have a wonderful name for a little colt too so am prepared for whatever comes.
