I do hope Quest is feeling better. I know Vicky had a very low pain threshold in her latter years, and when she had colic attacks really felt it badly. Sending lots of healing vibes for Quest and a big for you Pam.

Thank you every one for your all your concern, thoughts and prayers. Sadly, at 3PM today I decided to call it a day. The vet had administered extremely strong painkillers but they wore off quickly leaving him in extreme pain. I spent much of the day with him as he clearly wanted me to be there and was begging me to end his pain. The vet said it could only be a twisted gut to cause such symptoms and he would refer Quest to Newmarket if I requested. However, at his age (27) and with his history of Cushings and Laminitis I felt the right thing was to let him go now and the vet agreed.
Luckily Andy was able to get off work and we were both with Quest at the end. It was very peaceful. I let Harvey and Winnie see the body afterwards but they showed no interest at all.
It will be very strange tomorrow to go down to the yard and no Quest. He has been with me for 17 years and was always cheerful and full of life, right up to yesterday. It was quick for him and he didn't suffer long.
RIP Questie
