my mare is supposed to be foaling in June, have no date as she was running with the stallion, but she's started to bag up slightly already, am getting worried in case I turn up one day and she's foaled in the field. Can any one tell me what the usual time scale for bagging up is?

Depends what you mean by bagging up? D isn't due till the middle to end of May and her udders have been slowly changing for the last month. I'm a first time Mum and not sure what the difference is between "bagging up" and the gradual change and swelling that has been taking place for the last month.

they dont always bag up at all.Ruby foaled as a maiden with no bag and her teats up high, not swollen or altered at all.peggy starts bagging up 6-8 weeks before foaling, clemmie 3 weeks before foaling so there is plenty of time for your mare.keep an eye on her bottom and tail as that may be more acurate for near foaling.
