I need to invest in a pair of half chaps and could use some guidance. I currently ride in my Wear Muck boots, but my trainer thinks I'd benefit from some additional leg grip in the saddle. I dislike long boots, so she suggested the half chaps. My local tack shop has many different styles-- my main considerations would be comfort, ease of care, and value for money. Have any of you tried the washable suede kind? How did they work for you? Any advice will be gratefully accepted!

Yes, I've tried those and they're OK, but lose loads of colour every time I wash them so I can't put them in the washer with anything else. Have you tried these: www.justchaps.co.ukThey're not the cheapest - but wear and wash again and again and I think they're good value for money.....and lots of different styles and colours to choose from.

Hi i think half chaps are great easy to put on versitile and as Sue said they come in all materials and colours. Best to try on for right lengh and calf size this will make a big difference in how comfortable, speaking as a guy i prefer leather and as long as you keep them cleaned and dry after most usage they will last a long time, i think most times it is the zips that go first! Hope this helps Regards Richy
