I've got 4 foals from 5 due - Su is hanging on and keeping us guessing.  We covered Su (Colliery Supreme) with Tommy (Raygill William) and she was confirmed in foal at her 3 week scan, but at 6 weeks we could see the foetus breaking up on the screen. At that stage it seemed to be in 3 bits, interesting but disappointing. anyway, we thought it was too late in the season to do much and we'd bring her back into work, but it just so happened that Rory (Rory Mac) was well into his 'Terrible Twos'  and worked himself into a particularly foul strop, horrible temper and trying to bite everyone in sight. He needed to have a short, sharp lesson in manners and Su is the ideal candidate to give that, so they got turned out together for a few days. Rory came back a reformed character who realised his place in the scheme of things (at the bottom ;D) and Su started work again. She wasn't very keen though - no news there! - but kept getting bigger and bigger. Sure enough, beginning of the year she was tested in foal and now we're just waiting. Everyone that's seen her says it must be any day now because she looks big enough to burst, but they've been saying that for the past month and we're still hanging on.  If it's an August foal it would have to be Rory's, before that it's Tommys and what we saw must have been something that wasn't a foetus - or perhaps a twin being expelled. We had thought she would foal before Leia as she bagged up big time and moved well away from the herd. Now she's back to normal - well, as normal as Su gets  - and keeping us guessing. |

It doesn't surprise me that Su wants to keep you guessing ;D She's such the character! Fingers crossed she won't keep you in suspence for too long.

Sadly no more for me this year!! Maybe some people are just being a bit wary posting about foals they have due, just in case!! Sure there are some more due though! Debbie, maybe you should start a new topic, Who Has Foals Due In 2010  |

I'm sure you're right, it can seem like tempting fate to count your foals before they're safely on the ground. Chris and Clare have just left after a weekend visit, so Chris had a good look round at all the ponies. He reckons Su is still a good way off and could well go into August! She just keeps us waiting! |
