My son is getting too big to ride in the cub saddle now so we need a new one. I know it will differ with every pony but i need to know where to start. Just peoples opinion as to whether to try 14" or 15" first. Do you think 15" will be far too big on her? Iv also got to consider my son is getting quite long legs!

I think this will really depend on the pony's body shape. I'm pretty sure saddlers don't want the saddle extending beyond the ribs, so it'll be a matter of trying the 14 or 15" and seeing what they look like on her.
Perhaps your saddler's got some secondhands to try on her?? Sounds like not much longer and your son might have to look for a new mount ;D

i think its going to be a 14" from what people are saying as she is quite short. Im going to go to the saddlers next week and see if he has a 14" saddle to try although im not hopeful! Debbie im hoping she is going to last for at least another year if i can string it out that long, luckily my daughter is only 4 so she will do her for a few years yet. i did have her up for loan as they were both more interested in other things but iv had some very strange people ring about her and its put me off!!

Oh dear! I'd say hang onto her. You already know what she's like and as you say, your daughter's not that far behind in starting. Far better to know you've got a pony onhand who's good with her little riders. Would she make a good companion pony to your other pony if they lose interest again? Its understandable, little ones have their attentions on so many different things growing up. Sometimes its hard to keep them on ponies.

We have a 11h2 wels A pony and she was professionally fitted with a Thoroughgood pony club saddle 16 1/2 inches x wide fit. We have had no problems - she is quite long might I add.
