Although Livvi is not a "youngster" thats the stage that we are at! I am totally stuck actually and am hoping to get Becky Holden to come but it won't be until end of July I don't think but I dont know anyone near me to help! See my blog for the full story drummersmum.blogspot.com/ but in short I have done some in hand work which Livvi responded to really well so now I have got on her (still doing other stuff) and she has worked out very quickly what he leg means but not the bit! Basically she is leaning on it or gaping her mouth and constantly trying to get her tongue over, I can't get her to accept the contact at all unless I drop the rein to almost 0 but then we are in danger of going where she fancies!! I think this started with the long reining, she resisted then and I have tried lunging in side reins a couple of times but she is resisting more than she is softening so I don't want her to become upside down. She is fine with the bit at rest, she fiddles with it but not too badly, its just when you pick up the contact! So what next?
