I've stupidly entered me & Sian into a Novice dressage comp and just wondered what you thought about this . . . . . . our medium trot is awful (IMO) SO I'm in two minds as to (1) not attempt it (2) TRY knowing it will go pear shaped but you'l show to the judge you know their should be a difference Sian understands my aids for medium but because she finds it hard in an outline (give her plenty rein and she's FAB!) she choose's to either canter or throws her dummy out and stands having a trantrum - which is OK in practise but NOT in a test

I would give it a go..........if it goes pear shaped it goes pear shaped. She might surprise you

I'd definitely give it a go - after all, dressage is really for improving yourself. You may be pleasantly surprised or at least know what you have to work on!

If you give it a go you may get some constructive coments from the judge which will help you to continue improving.

Heather's spot on with that advice IMHO. I'd give it a go too - make up points in the bits Sian is good at and give the medium trot your best shot. As Gill says, she might surprise you.

Also something I struggled with on Amber. Try altering her stride by rising in a rhythm. Think up down up down in your head and rise strictly to that rhythm its amazing how quickly they match their stride and then using the aids to teach her that that is the tempo you want. Just something I found very useful to clarify it for her without stopping her moving forwards

OK I've got another 2 weeks practice still yet but I'm going for the "slowing the trot down on the corner and pushing forward across the diagonal back to a slow trot to the corner" the bit across the diagonal may very well be our normal working trot but hey-ho I'll have shown that I've tried!!
