Elle has been a bit abandoned these last few weeks while I've been so busy at work and away a lot, so today I brought her in for some TLC and some more learning.
She objected to the mane and tail detangler - I didn't even go near her mane either! But she let me do it, her objections are much milder than Harley's.
Then I sacked her out with a numnah for a while and that was all fine - last time I did it she tensed and moved away. She seems to have a think about things after they've happened and take stock - and so far has agreed with everything I've done (apart from spraying LOL!).
So I thought I'd try the treeless saddle on her. Fetched it out, laid it down by her and let her have a good sniff. She was very interested in it and gave it a thorough going over! Then I lifted it and walked all round her with it at shoulder level so she could see it, then I did it even closer so it was touching her - again, not worried so on it went, stirrups and all! Delighted!
So I put her bridle on - no more worrying about her ears - and took her for a short walk down the road with the saddle still on (girthed up!) and she was perfect. Even when I played with the stirrupsand swung them around she wasn't any more bothered than a mature horse would be.
I'm really pleased with her as she's had so little attention recently, she had every right to object. She's such a sweetie to be around, I'm sure she'll throw some random things at me at some point but so far she's been as good as gold.
Sorry no pics. I'll try to remember to take the camera with me tomorrow..
