This morning we sadly lost our beautiful rescued greyhound girl Flossie-Jo. She was careering round our garden with her Pharaoh Hound pal Inca when she let out a sudden yelp and fell to the ground. We rushed over but she was already unconscious and despite our efforts to resuscitate her, she died quietly and seemingly painlessly, in our arms We think it must have been a massive heart-attack, although she was a very fit dog and hadn't been ill. She was just 10 years old. Flossie brought love, loyalty, fun and laughter into our lives. She was a gentle girl and we will always miss her x Run free Floss. Thankyou for the journey. Hope Mackie, Flea and Ella are waiting for you somewhere Flossie-Jo (Decent Percent) 23rd April 1999 - 11th September 2009Helen & Martin

What an awful shock for you! A great way to go for her though, but so sudden and sad for you. She was obviously well loved in her rescued life in your home. Rest in peace Flossie-Jo xxx

Oh I'm soooooo sorry Helen, what a huge shock for you but at least she did not suffer and passed away doing what she loved - it's how I'd like mine to go but sadly it never seems to happen that way . RIP Flossie-Jo

Thanks everyone - your kind comments are very much appreciated The house feels very empty without Flossie-Jo, even though she spent most of her indoor life fast asleep, upside-down, in true greyhound fashion! Inca is bewildered and pining for her, so we need to start the search for a new little friend. Maybe an abandoned Galgo from Spain? Or another ex-racer from the UK?
