I am so, so sorry to read this Helen. She sounds like she was a mare in a million. I'm really glad she had such a peaceful end to her life though. Lots of love and hugs to you and Martin. R.I.P. Cadeby! x

Oh no Helen, I am so sad for you because when you loose a pony/horse it does hurt so very, very much. My thoughts are with you all and as the days go on it does get better a little each day. I am glad you have happy memories of Cadeby, just keep thinking of those special moments and it will get you through this difficult time Life isn't easy!

So sorry to read this and must add apologies for sending a message in birthday wishes without having seen this first. What a shock to find her, but what a happy ending if she passed peacefully at home without a struggle. I hope flint settles quickly. x

Thanks for all your kind messages. I don't think we will ever have another horse like Cadeby. She was my first horse and I think I landed my "horse of a lifetime" at the first attempt She has left a huge hole but we fully accept her death, knowing it was "her time"and that she picked her own moment to leave. It's far, far easier than having to make the decision to let them go yourself. The spleen cancer was a direct result of grey-horse melanoma which started under her tail. It is a difficult condition to diagnose as a poorly functioning spleen reduces the efficiency of the immune system, so you get a whole series of other illnesses manifesting first. Much as I love greys, I will never have another

... I'll tell Celt tomorrow but i bet she already knows. Celt was definitely Cadeby's favourite Dales baby - they had an amazing bond. I love this picture of them fast asleep together and the swishing tail is Flint her "proper" daughter
