Has anyone any experiences with it?
Thinking about getting Sham a bridle and breastplate for there as we do lots of endurance so something maybe more comfy then his leather ones.

Funnily enough I was thinking about this too. I did a pleasure ride in the pouring rain Sunday and even my rubber reins had no grip at all. I was wondering what those Libby's webbing ones are like?

The Libbys rubber grip reins are great, very grippy even in the wet and especially if you use them with gloves like Roekl. I've used them for years, I have the trigger ones that are easy to get on and off.
I've also got a couple of bridles, but I found that the ones with the fixed nosebands are often too big across the nose and tend to slip down - it would be better if they made these more adjustable. They may well have improved the fit now as mine are years old.

I didn't get on with my Libby's stuff terribly well. Once it was on it was fine, and it looked very smart and was comfortable for Tilly. However it was so floppy that getting it on was a real faff. Maybe there is a nack to it - but I never worked it out!
I also had the trigger clip reins which were fine, until Tilly rubbed her face on her leg one day in the middle of her forrest picked her head up and she had managed to unclip one rein. VERY un nerving experience suddenly only having one rein!

Mmm think I might try some of the rubber reins then. I think I'd find the same as you putting the bridle on though, Olivia. I seem to make a meal of putting a normal leather one on now my fingers are so arthriticy.

I had a libbys bridle and liked it(the one where the bit clips off to make in into a head collar.) I wouldn't mind another but will need to ring them about sizing---need a full with cob cheeck pieces. I used to put mine on the washing machine with numnah. Brilliant.
I too had the trigger clip reins which came undone once when Magic rubbed her face on her leg.

Another option would be Performance Equestrian - they specialise in endurance and trail riding equipment.
I use a Libby's breast plate which has a clip-on attachment to turn it into a martingale - I bought Harley a full sized breast plate and cob sized martingale attachment and it fits fine.
You can exchange the trigger clips for 'scissor clips' which don't come undone as easily!

hi I've been using a Libby's bridle for years on my Dales. They're ideal as you can bung them in the washing machine and the clips and straps are really easy to fasten. I always get people asking where I got it too. Mine is dark green and black and really suits Cass. Attachments:

I haven't got experience of Libbys but I went to an endurance ride on Sunday where Performance Equestrian were outstanding! I am going to get a made to measure bridle for Blue as the Zilco one I bought on Ebay doesn't quite fit AND they replaced some saddle bags I bought from them 18 months ago because the webbing straps broke. Now thats what I call service.

Will have a look at performance questrian, I either have a very odd head shaped pony or libbys sizeing is a little naff. Pony size everythings on the last hole and noseband is nowere near fitting. Got a cob and everythings hanging so badly its giagantic, even with extra holes.

Join the club, that's why I agreed to get made to measure in the end. I have had to buy extra bits for my leather bridle to make it fit as well.

The clip reins are fantastic for using on my cob because he wears a gag bit so we can have the reins on the snaffle ring for schooling and then quickly change to another ring if we decide to do some jumping. Plus the grip is great even in the wet.
As for the bridles I never really got on with them because I just couldnt get the fit right. I did try a hackamore once and I was five miles from home when my horse put his head down and it snapped and fell right off! I had to ride him back with just the reins round his neck as a neck strap so had very little brakes!! A very scary experience which has put me off using them since.

hehe it was terrifying but it really made me appreciate the bond I have with my boy!! He was a rescue horse and when I first got him I couldnt even touch him let alone ride him so to go from that to riding him home with no bridle made me realise how far we have come together. I wouldnt recommend other people to try it though!!
