Thanks to Lesley (felldale) I got one of these and have to say I now prefer it to the traditional scoop and rake. The scoop has a shorter handle but a large base so you lean on it when you are raking up the muck, and it doesn't strain your back. The rake I find is way better than the longer handled rigid ones and is much quicker at picking up the muck, especially the ones which have been spread by crows! I don't know how it would cope with the very splatty pancakey spring grass poos but so far, I am giving it a tentative thumbs up! The only thing I have to be careful of is not filling it too much as I have elbow problems (along with everything else lol) and this might exacerbate it - but so far so good equinespeedskip.co.uk/

Nah still don't like that sort of thing ;D I'll stick to my shovel and grass rake ;D I think it's the tipping of the scoop that I can't get on with

Interesting, Gill. I looked into these earlier this year when Jacqui told me she'd seen them at a show and they looked promising. I will be interested to hear how you get on. My worry was that the tynes wouldn't be strong enough to scoop big, heavy poos and it would end up being a strain on my wrists.
I gave up with the standard poop scoop several months ago and went back to using rubber gloves, a small skip, a light, short handled plastic shovel for the spread out poos and my quadbike with trailer. All my shoulder pains and my carpel tunnel symptoms disappeared.

Glad you are enjoying it, Gill ;D I absolutely love mine, it has made such a difference. I agree about not filling it too full (I have elbow problems too ) I have had mine for absolutely ages now and one of the prongs hasonly just fallen out of the rake so I will have to replace it although I have been using the rake with the prongs just pushed nearer together and it's been fine.

My rake arrived yesterday an im using it with my normal scoop not one of thiers. Im very impressed and i find it really easy to scrape the poos in and i didnt have a blister like i normally do with the long rake. Its much lighter and far easier to use. a gig thumbs up from me

Just an update on the speedskip - I used it all through the poopicking season (till the herd went into the winter field) and it didn't give me any extra aches or pains in addition to my usual ones! The rake coped with all types of poos and even Dave prefers it to the old skip. So it will definitely be used in replacement from now on!

I saw one of these in action at a competition centre at the weekend. I was impressed and was going to look up this thread and see where to buy them. Of course I got home and promptly forgot so thanks for bringing this up again Gill. Great timing. ;D

I've been using one of the short rakes for years now with the usual old style pooper scoopers, you can get them from garden centres and even Tesco when in season. I have the skip bit with the shorter handle so as I stand up it comes with me, I don't have to 'lift' it with my arm, if you bend properly (at the knees) then your back doesn't take the strain either. A couple of years ago I got half a dozen rakes from Tesco at the end of season for 7p each! Still have 4 of them left.
