Perf Show schedules now out, as said, it should be on the DPS website soon, but you can email or PM me (or Penny- DalesLady as I will be off line til Sunday) if you want one now.
Enteries close 20th Aug, but getting them in early would be greatly appreciated to help Penny get the Catalogue done in time rather than a huge last minute panic. Here's the email text that went with the schedule:
Hello!
Please find attached the DPS Performance Show Schedule for this year. It is currently being validated by the Show Committee so may change in some minor ways but I thought it would be better sent out now as I'm off to the Summer Show shortly and the 'entries in' date of 20th August is looming. If there are any amendments, I will recirculate it in due course.
I must apologise for the lateness of the Schedule, I have been a little over-stretched with work committments this year.
Things to note:
The sections have changed this year for a number of reasons. As the Novice classes were becoming comparitively very large and competitive, we have introduced 3 new Categories A (Open), B (Novice) and C (Have A Go). Please read the details in the schedule carefully to ensure you enter the right category, if you don't, you may find we've moved you! To regain the original spirit of the Performance Show, one where anyone could come, enjoy and have a chance of being placed even if competing wasn't their thing, we have created the "Have A Go" category, this is very much to encourage new people and ponies to the show and give those who never get a look in a chance. Hopefully, these changes will balance the numbers in the classes a little and allow the day to progress more quickly.
Please have a go at the Show jumping Gambler's Stakes even if you don't jump! Whichever catagory of class you are in, you can still jump (or walk over!) the smallest jumps (some only 1' high) and get points towards a placing in your category. It may mean the difference in you winning the Points Competition and not.
I would also like to make two requests to everyone within reasonable travelling distance of Askam Bryan.
We need help on the day for stewarding, setting up and taking down courses, manning the queing boards, etc. Please come and see me early on the day.
We also desparately need help setting up the venue the night before, and cleaning up after the Show on the day. Last year this all fell to the Committee members and their travelling colleagues and to some competitors who'd travelled from the South coast! In the main the Committee members are not local, their ability to compete at the show is compromised, and it is at their own personal expense that they come to put the Show on for you. If you wish the Show to remain in traditional Dales country then your support is vital. If you can help, please email me with your contact number (or send me a text - 07702 525196) and I can let you know what we're doing.
I hope this finds both you and your ponies fit and well, and that you will be able to come and participate, or if not then please come and help!
Kind regards
Lucy
I am looking for a Show Jumping steward, a dressage writer, a handy pony steward and a driving steward, if anyone fancies doing any of those, pls PM me.
Thanks to all those offering setting up help, I'll let you know what we need when I know a little more.
If anyone can stay and help tidy/clean up afterwards, that would be magnificent, as no one has offered for that yet.
It's a really great show, and now with the "Have a Go" you really have no excuse for not coming if you have a Dales Type pone! And remember you don't have to jump big fences in the show jumping whatever catagory you are in!
Hope to see you all there!
Lucy
