chicken and butternut squash
chunks of chicken onion bacon butternut squash red wine chicken stock garlic red currant jelly
brown the chicken onions and bacon add to the slow cooker peel and cube the butternut squash lightly fry and add to the slow cooker warm half and half red wine and chicken stock add a dollop of lazy garlic and a generous dollop of red currant jelly and add leave to cook all day
if it looks a funny colour (sometimes the wine makes it look abit purpley) add a few drops of gravy browning and it makes it a rich brown colour.

I do ordinary recipes in my slow cooker - like bolognese sauce for spag bol or lasagne and chillie con carne.
The secret is to get everything really hot before putting it into the slow cooker - and to pre-cook veg. Potatoes and root veg particularly don't soften very well in a slow cooker.
