These are the pellets recommended for EPSM horses and also those that are prone to tying up. EPSM cannot utilise carbs from grains properly, they store them in an unusable way, so have to get their energy and calories from fats and oil - you are looking at 25% of the calorie intake being from oil or fat.
I was asked in another thread for the composition of the ERS pellets he is getting - here it is:
Wheatfeed Grass Oatfeed Full fat soya Veg oil Unmolassed sugar beet Vits/mins as usual.
They couldn't tell me the %ages of each.
The analysis is: 13.5 digestible energy MJ/kg 11% protein 10% oil 14% fibre 8% ash 19250 iu/kg vit a 2375 iu/kg vit D3 430 iu/kg vit E
At the moment Harley is geting:
1.5 pounds of ERS pellets - being built up to 1 kg if necessary 2/3 mug of soya oil - being built up to 1 cup. 1 vit scoop of feedmark vit E/selenium 1 vit scoop of feedmark benevit advance general multivit/min 1/2 pound Fibergy.
He's out 24/7.
He's losing weight/dropping muscle - none of the other horses on the same grass are, and they are not getting fed anything at all. Usually Harley maintains his weight at this time of year off the grass.
Beth Valentine, the EPSM guru in the states recommends up to 2 cups of oil per day, but said if I can get Harls to 1kg of feed and 1 cup of oil we should be almost there.
Any thoughts?

Hi jane. thanks for that. The reason I am interested is that a lady I know who events her horses has recently had one that 'tied up' I am trying to help her as I'm trying to get her business for the shop I know its not exaxctly the same as what Harley has but she is considering what to feed her horse on and the vet said No to wheatfeed. AS I said in the other post - is Alfalfa not suitable. I admit I have not had time to look into it all properly yet ;D

I don't know about Alfafa, I'll look into it too. I got a Simple Systems leaflet and think I'll give them a phone.
ERS pellets are good for horses prone to tying up. I pay £11.55 a bag if that's any help, a 20kg bag.
