greys & bays

I was wondering how many lines there are for greys and bays. Do all the greys go back to Grey Bobbie?
My bay mare, Fannie, has grey through her sires line Dartdale Freddie( Hett Shamrock x Stoke Jenny) anyone know if Jenny was grey? and Fannie's dam was bay, Sowermire Louise ( Haswell Outlook x Wolsey Jane Ann) I know Outlook is bay. Does anyone know if some of the Wolsey ponies are bay?

Stoke Jenny was black. Fannie's grey line will be through her sire's line: Dartdale Shamrock, Hett Shamrock and Grey Bobbie all were grey.

There are lots of Brown/bay Wolsey ponies, including the current prolific stallion Wolsey Master Oliver. He's had 50 foals to date, half of which are brown/bay.

Both of Fannie's grandparents Haswell Outlook and Wolsey Jane Ann were brown/bay.

Lots of the grey ponies today do go back to Grey Bobbie but there are some rarer grey lines. For example, in France there is a whole string of greys all originating from the mare Whitworth Lady 83/89. She had 9 foals, 7 of which are grey and alive today to hopefully continue her line.
She traces back to a grey section D mare; Lady of Whitworth born 1963 who is totally unrelated to Grey Bobbie.

If you're interested in bloodlines and colours it would be well worth joining the DPS so you can access the Grassroots system (online stud book). It's fascinating

Grey Bobbie is special to me because he was the first registered Dales stallion I ever saw. He was trotting at Appleby and always drew huge crowds

My girlie Doris (Sandtoft Princess) is out of Whitworth Lady.

Doris is Grey and has had two foals by our boy (Waterside Jack)

Caphouse Alice is Grey sec A and Caphouse Duke is Grey sec B

Hopefully Doris will have more foals in the future and Alice too when she's older

Edited to add she also has Grey Bobbie on her sire's side (Dartdale Peter Boy)

My old boy Dan is by Hett Shamrock and is grey.

I had a bay pony (Daloumie Sweet Olivia) - now owned by Emily (drummersmum) who was by Wolsey Master Oliver.

i have a bay from akehurst rainbow and lowhouses jet and a brown from highhouse heather's bell (i think) and akehurst robin
