Does anyone have any experience of treating feather mites with a mix of pig oil & sulphur?

A friend of mine with a cob uses it alot - he gets itchy patches and then scratches and nibbles them til they bleed. It is very effective. No-one is sure what causes the itching - it could be mites.

A friend of mine uses frontline, which seems to work.

I have noticed Pip stamping one back leg and was wondering if it's feather mites. I was going to use Frontline which is what a vet recommended for a friend's cob.

My old boy use to get these every summer. He had the injections a couple of times but we found washing them in flea and mite shampoo helped no end and was pretty cheap. We just use to get the cheapo own brand stuff from the supermarkets. Leave it on for 10 15 minutes and make sure you get right down to the skin. Or benzo benzelweight (don't know how you spell it???) It is originally for scabes but also works on this to to stop the itching. Hope this helps :-)
