Just to add to the Riding hat debate.....
My friend Sian was thrown from her horse last week in an indoor arena whilst novice show-jumping. She was thrown against the arena wall & hit her head very hard. She's ok but had to have a CT scan and is still suffering swimming vision & sea-sickness effects a week later. Fortunately, she was wearing a modern riding hat otherwise I think she would have suffered brain damage. She's going to be ok but it's taking time for the after-effects to go. Her hat is now making creaking noises where the impact happened is going to be thrown away. Thank goodness she was wearing a hat manufactured to a high standard though.
