We have had a disaster with this weather this year. Hay cut and just not enough sunshine to dry it. So we are forced to make small bale haylage instead For Rooney this is a no no as he goes bit nutty on the stuff!! Chas and apache should bf fine but is it ok to feed youngsters on it? Also how much should we give. Mine all live out 24/7 and in winter get half a bale each daily but what will that equate to with haulage? Such a pity there is huge amount of grass there as well!

I feed haylage as I don't have the storage space to buy in hay in buk for the winter. Axel my young CB has been absolutely fine with haylage - he had his first lot at about 7 months of age.
Weight-wise they do need a little bit more than hay as it has a higher water content, but you don't have to feed it in vast quantities. I get mine in big bales so find it the cheapest and easiest way to feed my boys over winter
