After regaining my confidence at jumping the year before last, I decided we should start doing a bit of jumping. I booked a lesson at our local riding school where the outcome was 'what he lacks in skill he makes up in enthusiasm'. That was enough for me, jumps bought we went about training ourselves. Things were going well until this July. We went to the same riding school for Friday night clear round and novice. Clear round went well and Dougal seemed rearing to go, however in the novice he could bearly lift his feet off the floor and crashed through some fences so I retired. Took him in the next class just in case it was a off round but the same thing happened. Don't know/if was the heat, it was scorching or was something wrong with my boy. Anyway I've left off jumping since then only popping over a small cross pole once in a while. On Wednesday the rinding school had their half term fun jumping show, so I thought small jumps and cool weather, let's give it a go. He flew round the clear round and got a clear then we went in the novice novice and got another clear so we got a joint first place and a clear round. He was so up for it and people were saying i' should do more classes but he'd proved he was fine with what he'd done and I was happy to call it a day. Always finish on a high I was told ,so we did. May go back tomorrow just for the clear round which is a bit bigger. The nov nov was only about a foot high. Just thought id share my rambleings with you all.

Hey well done! What a star boy! It does sound like he was suffering a bit in the heat during the summer and now it's cooler his energy has returned.
