With all the coughs and colds and chest infections around I thought I'd post this....bit OT, but hopefully helpful.
I had two rotten colds in rapid succession - just getting over one when the next came along - and felt really poorly this time last week.
When I was having a moan about it on Facebook our lovely heathera recommended Berocca. It's a mineral and vitamin supplement. It comes as a tablet which you fizz in water and drink. I got some of the Berocca Boost (thinking I needed a kick in the pants) which has another ingredient which is supposed to give you energy.
Well, although I still have a cough (which is disgustingly productive) I feel so much better. Quite lively and positive again and able to do long days at work without feeling too drained.
Now, I know that I would have got better in time anyway, but I do wonder if the Berocca is giving me a helping hand. It probably doesn't contain anything that can't be sourced from a good, balanced diet - but maybe at this time of year a bit of an extra boost isn't a bad thing.
It doesn't contain massive doses of anything like some broad spectrum supplements do, which is a good thing IMHO as it is possible to OD on vits and mins.
Thanks Heather!

Having just recommended this, I thought I'd better check any side effects. Here is some info for anyone thinking of using the Boost alternative to standard Berocca. Nothing dreadful, but just something to read before use. www.beroccaboost.ie/who-dares-ask.html

That's good to know Sue/Heather I still like to use the Vicks First Defence if I feel the first signs of a cold coming on, it really does seem to stop a cold in it's tracks

So does this stuff actually help you fight off a cold or just give you an energy boost as you work through it? I notice it's got aspertame in it.....

I think it give you the mins and vits you need for a good immune system, Linda. And the added "boost" ingredient seems to give energy when you're feeling lack lustre.
I still swear by echinacea for the actual fighting off of a cold.
Aspartame is a prevalent pain. I don't react to it like Debbie does, but do try to avoid it when I can.
