So my boy has a sarcoid on his sheath. He had a little operation last year and it went it was gone a few months and now it's back. I don't really want to use Liverpool cream because my friend had it put on her horse's sarcoid and it made it worse and because of the area it's in it might be painful (this might just be me being silly). I was thinking along the lines of bloodroot cream? Anyone used it/views on it, my vet said it can be a pain to get hold of I can't remember why though. Also I heard the Equimmune and Virex route is quite good (you use the Equimmune and Virex cream together) I think it's by Hilton Herbs? Thanks for reading

What about trying something Homeopathic? Thuja is comonly used for sacoids but prob best get professional advice for the dosing rate

My friend's Haflinger had very bad sarcoids on his chest and girth. She had them cryogenically removed but lots came back. She then applied Thuja cream and it worked! No idea re. the concentration of the active ingredient or potential risks/side-effects though, so (like Alison says) best to get professional advice and/or do some research first

Harvey developed a very small sarcoid on his sheath several years ago. My vet said that because it's small size, postion and type I should try a form of human wart cream first and if that didn't work then cryogenic removal would be the next best option. As it turned out, the wart cream worked and it never came back.
I was very concerned at the time and was in email contact with Prof Knottenbolt about it and even sent him photos. He was very helpful and he is very approachable if you are worried.
I've had 2 horses before Harvey who also developed sarcoids. One was successfully treated with surgery and with the other I tried Thuja cream and it worked! BUT there are all sorts of variables, especially the type of sarcoid. In my case they were all the simple soret of sarcoid.
Recently a colleague of mine told me of successful treatment of their horse's sarcoids with x-terra cream (which I think is the same as blood root). However, the way they described it, there was a lot of swelling and inflamation involved, much the same as you would expect with Liverpool cream .
It can't hurt to try Thuja if the sarcoid is very small but I would always consult my vet.

Thuja is comonly used for sacoids but prob best get professional advice for the dosing rate I was thinking of trying Thuja I've heard of it working quite well but will ask my vet first I'd rather go down the natural route rather than using chemicals and whatnot. My friend's Haflinger had very bad sarcoids on his chest and girth. She had them cryogenically removed but lots came back. She then applied Thuja cream and it worked! No idea re. the concentration of the active ingredient or potential risks/side-effects though, so (like Alison says) best to get professional advice and/or do some research first That's the reason why I don't want to consider surgery again they just come back :/ Harvey developed a very small sarcoid on his sheath several years ago. I will try emailing Proff Knottenbelt later when I can get near the laptop. Hmm it seems Thuja is quite a common option these days (saw quite a lot of posts on other forums about it seems quite widely used) as I said I was thinking about it. Is x-terra the one by global herbs? I know they have a cream for sarcoids out I have used Sarc-ex that you put in their feed it didn't seem to have any effect at all. Inflammation of the sarcoid or the actual area? I suppose if it works then that's just one of those things. I am going to ring the vet in the morning to get some advice on Thuja. Thanks all for your advice

I tried the sarc-ex from global herbs and it had no effect. I don't think the x-terra is global herbs. I have a feeling it is something quite hard to get hold of.

Used castor oil daily on my fillys sarcoid, it was the nodule type and took a few months but it went and hasn't come back at all, you'd never know it had even been there! Have to be patient though Even the vet suggested trying it!

I think sarc-ex is a little overrated I suppose it would work on absolutely tiny ones maybe. I googled x-terra cream to see what it was it's american it's called something else over here though I can't remember what and it's like chicken teeth :/ I've not heard of castor oil being used, I'll try anything that doesn't mean going down the extremely harsh route though I'm going to speak to the vet later I'm at college now so not much I can do at the minute thanks again guys
