Started covering

Our 2012 foals are not on the ground yet (they are due in May and June) but Spring is well established here so we started covering yesterday.
Our black stallion Wilf teased Fi, Belle and Inca but sadly for him only Fi proved to be in season and she was ear-marked to go to King, much to Wilf's disgust

This is King renewing his acquaintance with Fi (Lowhouses Fiona). He's a big, soppy thing who likes to take his time and thoroughly chat up his mares. He still refuses to cover inhand, much prefering au-naturel and a bit of privacy in the field

This combination produced Bryher for us last year, then Fi had a year off. I'm hoping for a Bryher clone because she was a really sweet little filly.

I'm not optomistic that this covering will have been successful because I think we've caught her literally as she was finishing her season. But King will be happy to try again in a few weeks time if necessary

Teased Belle and Inca today. Neither are in season. Inca made us laugh as we have never seen a mare be quite so polite and non-demonstrative when declining a stallion's advances.

Just hope she gives clearer signals when she's ready
Poor Wilf says he would prefer a more enthusiastic girlfriend!

Judging by her previous seasons you will DEFINATELY know when she is ready she is a real slut or she was to the coloured gelding next door lol!!!
