Hi, I enjoy hacking and endurance riding, so need a comfy sadly for both of us. The forester I have at the mo does not seem to suit my 5 year old. She is quite tall, 15.2, and still maturing. What sort of saddle would be good? I also have a flex tree circle Y western saddle, love that one but is it suitable?? Any info most gratefully received Dagmar

Lucky you having Dayzee. I saw her pics when she was for sale and thought she was smashing. Had I been looking for another I would have gone for her. Nice to know where she is and what she is doing now.
Re endurance, unless you are doing the really huge milages, I would have thought any saddle which fits and is comfortable for you and her would be fine. I've seen people ride in Western saddles at our local Endurance competitions.

The key thing is does the saddle fit Dayzee and you? Get a qualified fitter to check. I love my western saddle and it fits the horse I ride as she is quite long backed- some natives aren't.
The circle y flex tree is a very nice model. Where does the fan of the tree end? Is it before the last rib on Dayzee?
My english one is the comfort range of the native pony saddle company and is great for longer rides.

Did she share the pink lorry with the Dale coming to you?
She is doing great, still likes to please but has a slightly cheeky side to her too. Considering that in Wales she was bottom of the pecking order, she is certainly asserting herself now.
Her stable name is now Lexi. She loves the hacking and like me not so keen on school work, but we persevere. It's quite funny when out, standing still is an effort, but once in the school she will stand for England! It's nice to hear about her.

^haha mine doesn't do stand either I can't see why you can't use a western saddle as long as it's comfortable and fits. I went to a farm ride by us with a friend to help her out and I saw a few people using them there and it's not even a long ride.

Westerns are fine for endurance but the main issue could be the weight if you get up the miles - however at 5 you won't be doing big miles with her anyway so it won't be a problem.
